All pupils are taught the subjects of Geography, History and Religious Education at KS3 so that they develop a detailed knowledge and understanding of the world in which they live. To develop this awareness pupils are encouraged to express their views and ask questions so that they become involved and committed citizens who recognise they have a positive part to play in society and understand how past actions may shape future events.
At KS$ the Humanities subjects are becoming increasingly popular choices and the subject of Sociology has been added to the choices available.
To enhance pupil enjoyment there are many out of school visits such as to White Scar Caves in Geography, Skipton Castle in History and visits to religious places of worship in Religious Education. An exciting current development is the partnership we are developing with a school in Boston, USA which will involve a number of KS$ pupils in video link up sessions so they can learn about other people and places.
