Foreign Languages Key Stage 4 and GCSE

At the beginning of year 10 students can opt to pursue GCSE courses in French, German or Spanish. Work is topic based and builds on the work in Key Stage 3. In addition to giving thorough preparation for the GCSE examination, it also provides a practical guide for living or staying abroad. A full range of teaching techniques is used and particular attention is paid to improving speaking, reading, writing and listening skills of the students. The courses contain an element of coursework (25%) in addition to assessment by an external examination (75%).
