Key Stage 4
In Key Stage 4 all pupils follow the EDEXCEL GCSE syllabus. In Year 10 pupils choose seven sports that they will study in depth over the two years. At the end of the studies pupils in conjunction with the staff will choose their top four scoring sports for their practical examination. Included in the option system is the opportunity for pupils to take an additional qualification the Junior Sports Leadership Award were pupils develop the skills to enable them to organise sporting festivals and become leaders of sporting activities.
The theoretical aspect of the GCSE course is taught in one hour lessons per week throughout the two years of Key Stage 4. Pupils are assessed at the end of each unit of work in preparation for a final examination. As we develop as a Sports College it is our intention to provide pupils with more opportunities to gain sports related qualifications.
