The Science Faculty consists of nine specialist Science teachers, five laboratories, a demonstration room and two preparation rooms, which are staffed by three laboratory technicians.
The Science Faculty has strong links with local primary schools and aims to make the transition between primary and secondary Science education smooth. The students prior knowledge and understanding is assessed and lessons are delivered to enable the students to progress. A variety of teaching strategies are used to meet the needs of all students.
At KS3, students will complete work on Life Processes and Living Things, Materials and their Properties, Physical Processes and Scientific Enquiry in preparation for their KS3 Tests towards the end of Year 9.
At KS4, there are two tiers of assessment: Higher (A* - D) and Foundation (C – G).
Students will follow the 21st Century Science GCSE courses which offer a valid, flexible Science education to meet the needs of different students.
