Music
Brass Group
The Brass group practice during the lunch hour on a weekly basis. They perform in school assemblies and during our School Concerts.
Woodwind Group
The Woodwind group also meets during the lunch hour and practice on a weekly basis throughout the year.
School Band
The Brass and Woodwind groups combine to make our Wind Band. They rehearse weekly, again during the lunch hour.
Rock Groups
There are 4 Rock groups at Palatine at the moment, each of which practice after school in our purpose built practice room. We are well equipped with a Pearl Export Drum kit and a selection of Guitars and Amplifiers. Several of the Rock group members receive Instrumental tuition here at Palatine.
Swing Choir
There are over 40 members of our well known Palatine Swing Choir. The Choir performs regularly throughout the year, singing at our Concerts, Open Evenings and Carol Services in school. They also sing in the Blackpool Schools Christmas event at the Ice Drome and take part in the Schools Alive Concerts at the Grand Theatre. At Christmas they visit local venues and entertain the guests they perform to. They practice at least twice a week throughout the school year.
Samba Band
If you like rhythm, you can join our Samba Band which rehearse during the lunch hours. They have performed at various local venues, including Blackpool Zoo and Blackpool Football ground.
Keyboard Club
The keyboard club offers extra keyboard tuition, mainly to KS3 students, during the lunch hour.
Drama
The Drama Club practice after school and perform plays and Pantomines. All students are welcome to join from Year 7 to Year 11.
KS3 Dance Club
Students from Years 7 - 9 practice and perform in the Blackpool Schools Dance Festival at the Winter Gardens.
Annual School Productions
Palatine students peform an annual Musical at Easter. Our most recent productions have been Guys and Dolls (2003), Fame (2004), Grease (2005), Oklahoma (2006) and Little Shop of Horrors (2007). Our 2008 production will be announced soon!
