Drama


All students study Drama in KS3 for 1 hour per week. A GCSE course is offered to students studying Drama at KS4.

The Drama faculty is very well equipped, having 2 purpose built Drama Studios and seating for over 100 people. The theatre is used for various performances throughout the school year.

 

KS3 drama skills

Mime, Narration, Starting Freeze frame, Marking the moment, Finishing Freeze frame, Physical theatre, Thought tracking, Unseen character, Cross cutting, Hot –seating, Multi role, stepping out of the action, spontaneous improvisation, Greek chorus, role-play, forum theatre
 

Year 10 GCSE Drama
Learn about:

  • Motivation-purpose, status, attitude
  • Time
  • Tension
  • Place/Space
  • Movement
  • Language
  • Symbolism
  • Also visit a theatre performance


Year 11 GCSE Drama
Do:

  • 6 practical drama workshops based on Improvisation. (marked by your teacher and worth 20% of your final grade)
  • 3 pieces of written coursework based on these workshops, marked by your teacher worth 10% of your final grade
  • 6 practical drama workshops based on Blood Brothers. (marked by your teacher and worth 20% of your final grade)
  • 3 pieces of written coursework based on these workshops, marked by your teacher worth 10% of your final grade
  • Working in groups of 3-5 make a performance/drama using all the skills you will have leant in Year 10, plus lighting, costume props, set and perform to an Examiner worth 40%
  • Plus you have to visit a live theatre performance and write a review
