Spain Trip
Just before half term, a party of 40 students, led by Mrs Crook, left Liverpool Airport to sunny Madrid. After a nerve wrecking flight by Devon Collier and even Mr Lloyd, we all landed safely and headed for the Hotel. After we unpacked we set off for the wonderful ‘Retiro’ park, where some students met Mickey Mouse by the lake.
The second day was spent at Warner Brothers Movie World Theme Park. A good time was had by all. This is where Mr. Lloyd came into his own on the ‘white knuckle’ rides, however, this couldn’t be said for Mrs Alder and Mr. Whittle, who were tricked into not holding the bags. Loaded with souvenirs and Superman T-shirts, we travelled back to the hotel via the beautiful sights of Madrid.
Day 3 was spent at Real Madrid’s Football ground, which was a fascinating tour for both non-aficionados and big fans of the sport. The trophy isle was a big hit; however, Mr. Wilkinson couldn’t get over the price of a football from the shop. The exact words were “120 Euros for that thing you kick with your foot!”
We all spent day 4 in Segovia, a pretty, historical town on the outskirts of Madrid. After our fascinating talk on the Roman aqueduct, the pupils went to shop and practise their newly acquired haggling skills in Spanish. Again, some bargains were had by all.
The last day was spent chilling in the park, whilst we awaited our flight back to the U.K. Everyone agreed it had been worthwhile and great fun. Even ‘Número uno and cinco’ from Mrs Crook’s 8 learnt a few words in the lingo.
Such was the success of the trip, that another one will be planned after the Disneyland Paris trip returns next year. Adiós amigos!
