Palatine Chess Club
We run a variety of chess clubs at Palatine and warmly welcome all students to become involved.
Tuesday lunch times, Base A: This club is for beginners and experienced Year 7 players. Older students are available to help teach and share skills.
Friday lunch times, Base A: This club is aimed at more experienced players from all years, with opportunity to enter into both local and national competitions.
Passes for both clubs are available from the Mentor Room on the day at Break.
All players gain house points for playing and KS3 students are accredited hours on their Children's University, Passport to Learning.
British Land Megafinal
During the first half term of 2010 students played qualifying rounds of the British Land Chess Challenge and fourteen of them qualified to go the northern Megafinal at Hodgson High School on May 1st, with a chance of winning the £1000 prize.
Blackpool Schools Chess Championship 2010
The 2nd Blackpool Schools Chess Championship was held at Palatine on May 29th 2010
The competition was open to individual students who live or go to school in Blackpool. The categories played were U9 Boys/Girls, U12 Boys/Girls, U15 Boys/Girls, U18 Boys/Girls with Trophies for the section winners.
