As a sports college we run an initiative that is supported by Sky Sports that focus's on engaging pupils in all aspects of school life by using the power of sport.

One of our Year 9 pupils Ben Wilson was part of this project last year. Throughout his time on the project Ben worked hard to address some of the issues that were preventing him from reaching his target grades academically and were also getting him into trouble in some of his lessons.

Ben made fantastic progress during the project and as a result was nominated as our pupil of the year.

This nomination was put forward to the Youth Sport Trust and Sky Sports.

The judging panel were very impressed with Ben's work and out of thousands of nominated pupils Ben was chosen as the North West Regional Sky Sports Pupil of the Year.

Ben, his dad and Nan and myself went down to Lords Cricket ground in London for the awards ceremony, were Ben collected his trophy, an I Pod and £50 Addidas voucher.

We are all extremely proud of Bens achievements.
