At Palatine we are actively working towards locating our school at the heart of the community.  We are always seeking ways by which we can continue to take up the challenge of making Every Child Matters agenda a reality for children, young people and communities and ensure we are able to offer a core service of activities.

The core offer includes:

  • A varied range of activities including study support, sport and music clubs etc
  • Parenting and family support
  • Swift and easy access to targeted and specialist services
  • Community access to facilities including adult and family learning, ICT and sports grounds

In order for Palatine to effectively deliver the core service we intend to work closely wiith parents, children and other organisations and customers to shape these activities around the needs of the community and to ensure we work towards arranging services in response to the identiied demand.

By developing the extended services programme it is hoped that parents will have greater choice, flexibility, convenience and accessibility to help them balance family and work commitments.

Encouragement of family learning so that there is increased involvement  in children's education, embracing new learning opportunities and encouraging children and families to learn is also an integral focus to the development of Extended Services.

We feel that high educational standards and student well-being go hand in hand and that children succeed best when they are healthy, self-confident and well-motivated. Extending the range of services that we as a school can offer is crucial to making sure children and families are given the support they need to thrive.

As part of our commitment to developing extended services we have appointed an Extended Schools Co-ordinator.  Mr David Milroy would welcome ongoing thoughts and views as to how Palatine can introduce and develop a wide range of activities and events. If you would like to use our fantastic facilities and are interested in hiring out parts of the school, we would love to hear from you.

David can be contacted on 01253 336500 or you may choose to e-mail him at david.milroy@palatine.blackpool.sch.uk
